About

About Moneythink CMU

Moneythink CMU is a student-led financial education and community-impact organization at Carnegie Mellon University. We help CMU students and Pittsburgh-area communities build financial confidence while creating opportunities for members to teach, consult, innovate, and gain meaningful real-world experience.

Students from every major and class year are welcome. No prior finance or consulting experience is required.

National Legacy

Moneythink began in 2008 as a student-led financial education initiative at the University of Chicago. Its near-peer mentorship model grew into a national nonprofit combining practical education, coaching, social innovation, and technology. Moneythink CMU carries that legacy forward in Pittsburgh through financial education, community partnerships, student innovation, and pro bono consulting.

National Recognition

Moneythink's national work has been recognized by the Obama White House, Goldman Sachs Gives, MassChallenge, Harvard Business Review, mtvU and MTV Act, and IDEO.org.

National highlights include being named one of five winners of the 2012 White House Campus Champions of Change Challenge and earning Second Place and Fan Favorite in the 2019 Goldman Sachs Gives Analyst Impact Fund.
